We were down two players, Mark and Brane, and Arran was carrying a hand injury but the boys put on a clinic as they ran through a variety of offensive sets and moved the ball beautifully seeming to penetrate the Manly defence at will.
Since we played Manly earlier in the season, some members of the Sea Eagles have added a three point shot to their repertoire. The outside shots gave Manly a few more opportunities but it wasn't enough to overcome a rampaging Hornets team.
The ball distribution opened up the court and gave the boys plenty of options inside and out leading to our highest shooting percentage of the season (62.07%).
Will, Addam and Thomas were particularly effective.
Thomas had one of his most complete games of the season with scything drives, mid range jump shots on the offensive end and five steals. He had his top score of the season with 16 points.
Luke also played well, shooting four from five including one baseline drive where he disappeared into the defence and finished with a reverse lay-up.
Jay's catch-and-shoot off a pass that seemed too long was another memorable moment.
Even with a sore hand, Manly couldn't keep Arran down. While he wasn't able to rack up the points his penetrating passes - some from the top of the key, some almost the full length of the court - gave him five assists, a new personal best.
Mitchell and Jayden were ferocious on defence, deflecting the ball at the top of the key and in transition resulting in steals that set up the team on a series of fast breaks.
This was a very one-sided match but it was an opportunity for different players to really shine.
